NONO
Proof-of-Concept Animation
"NONO" is an animated film inspired by the true story of Jacqueline Florent and her grandson Talain. Jacqueline is grieving the recent death of her husband, renowned painter Nubar (NONO), and Talain is an eight-year-old boy in a strange new country. They long to connect, but they are unable to communicate. Fortunately, hidden within a few of NONO's paintings are portals to realms unbothered by the realities of language and time. Accompanied by their love of music, grandmother and grandson voyage through distant dimensions of history, healing, resonance, and restoration, ultimately uncovering the science behind their shared, special gift.
Utilizing motion capture and mixed mediums of animation, "NONO" is a multidisciplinary, multigenerational ode to life. It is a hero's journey for both grandmother and grandson as they prepare for their respective exits and entrances upon the world's stage. It is an adult story told through the eyes of a child whose innocence brings harmony to the beauty and brutality of existence.
